It’s not every day you get to tell the story of one of Nottingham's biggest riots through the medium of an escape room. ‘Guilty?!’ is our multiple-choice escape room, loosely based on the Reform Bill riots that took place in our city in the 1830s. Players have one hour to explore our building (including some places the public normally doesn’t get to see!), search for clues, gather evidence and try to answer the oh so important question - Are you guilty?

What makes ‘Guilty?!’ so different from other escape rooms is the involvement of the Games Masters. We are the guides through the experience, appearing as different characters who are there to tell the story and help the players should they need it. We are physically with you throughout the entire game, offering a really unique playthrough, and the beauty is we can be as involved as the players would like us to be. Don’t be shy to ask us for help; it is exactly what we’re there for!

The most interesting part is watching how everyone plays the game so differently. Not only are we entertaining you, but it can also work the other way around, too! We see it all, from young teens to grandparents, groups who prefer working together and others who like to split up when it comes to looking for clues. Everyone has their own way of puzzle solving, so it’s a lot of fun to see the cogs turning and the inevitable whoops and cheers of success!

It's safe to say that being a games master is a very unique and wonderful job.
